GILIGADI
Giligadi is a 57-year-old Northern California polymath. His creative interests include music, photography, art (painting, simple cartoons, sculpture, etc.), comedy, acting and writing. He started playing trumpet at age 8 because “you were causing problems in class and needed something to do.” In 1990 he began recording experimental music with a pair of boom boxes. Before long, he bought a 4-track and started the process of refining “experimental post-apocalyptic folk.”
Giligadi has released 8 or 9 named “albums” on tape, and three releases which are available through Bandcamp. He has also been involved with innumerable side-projects, notably with Evuk, Mr. Panik of Godkomplex, Mike Drake of Mechanical Disease, and Chasmo. The collaboration with Mike Drake was called Dresden Peace, and led to two albums which are also available on Bandcamp. Chasmo and Giligadi formed Slumber Monkeys in 2023. They occasionally get together and jam with Ableton, a Hologram Microcosm, a batch of samples gathered for the occasion, and a keyboard (often a MicroKorg).
Giligadi is currently working on new music.
